Galaxy Hotel – Shanghai, China
Hotel – I passed this hotel many times while I was working in Shanghai and finally get to stay here. Really looks good from the outside, lobby, coffee house, etc… But when you get into the room, it doesn’t really sync with what you see outside. The bath equipments are tarnishing, walls a yellowish, shower heads are vintage and TV is box type. They really need to do some renovation, at least the bath rooms and change to flat screen TVs. The view I got was a garden and the highway. Not really nice but at least the locality of the hotel is quite prime. Bed was pretty ok. Paid about RMB$314 only ‘cos group buy. Listed price around RMB$455 now. No wifi, only LAN.
Service – The concierge is good and they will go all out to get you a cab when you need one. Reception check in is pretty fast and very friendly. Chambermaids are good and fast too.
Location – No.888 Zhongshan West Road, Changning District, Shanghai 200051, China. Pretty convenient to town via cab… less than RMB$30 everywhere. Near Hongqiao airport too.
Breakfast – Pretty good for the price. No omelette station though. Can be really crowded sometimes due to tour groups which I hate. They invade and leave nothing for the other patrons. No non-smoking sections also.
RTS (Return To Stay) – Maybe if there is an offer for the place.
Overall – Overall stay is good and value for money.
