Have always wanted to visit Qingdao and finally I found some time during some long holidays in China. Booked 2 rooms in this hotel for myself and 3 other friends traveling with me. Cab from the airport took about half an hour to reach the hotel. The hotel is located on the 7th floor of a building, just beside a big mall, hence it is quite hard to find. However look out for The 3rd Space signage, they share the same building. When enter the lobby, just inform the guard you’re heading to the hotel on level 7, they will let you in as entrance to lobby is only via security cards issued by the hotel.
The reception counter is located on the left side when you come out, which was probably converted from a bedroom. There is a deposit of for the rooms depending on the number of nights you stay but no worries, small amount. We booked the ‘seaview’ rooms but all have only partial view of the sea so don’t bother booking these rooms. The rooms reek of cigarettes even though I’ve requested for non-smoking floor. I guess in China there’s no such thing as non-smoking areas, except maybe in Guangzhou. Items inside the room are aged…Need overhaul. But for the price we paid, it is reasonable then.
Nothing within the hotel. But as you come out, to the left is a shopping mall with supermarket at basement, Starbucks, cafes, etc. To the right are 2 convenience stores and we discovered a Japanese bakery with good cheesecakes and coffee. Hotel is walking distance to the Olympic Yachting place and cab to anywhere is less than RMB15. Also walking distance to popular food street Yun Xiao Jie, where you find loads of seafood, BBQs and different types of Chinese cuisines. A tip for you guys, popular names doesn’t mean they are good. Don’t believe what dianping or web says. We tried and regretted.
Hotel – Room doesn’t come with breakfast but there are many places for food around the hotel as mentioned above. Room is huge with space for another queen size bed if needed! As per almost every hotel in China, they will not turn on central air-conditioning when the weather turns cool. Quite irritating if you ask me cos I paid for the room and all I have is only fan mode inside the room. I remember there are no amenities, hence would be better you equip those yourself. There’s free LAN internet in the room but very slow. No wifi.
Service – Front desk staff are ok only in service. Doubt English is spoken.
Location – Pretty central. Cab to Beer Street (Beer Museum), Zhongsan Road is around RMB20+. Quite hard to get cabs during peak hours anywhere in Qingdao.
Breakfast – NA
RTS (Return To Stay) – Maybe not.
Overall – Overall stay is alright for the price. But will consider elsewhere if I’m back in Qingdao again.
